There is not a day without a press release announcing federations or sanctioning bodies which join the World Martial Arts Games (taking place in Geneva, Switzerland on 1-2 April 2017). We asked Carl Emery, promoter of this event, a short summary regarding this tournament.
It is quite simple! replied Carl Emery. “I have been promoting events for the last 20 years and this is the first time I instantly encounter so much enthusiasm for a project! I have made agreements with most major sports federations, with illustrious personalities of combat sports and with the world’s most prestigious competitions. Everyone seems fascinated by this initiative of organising an apolitical open tournament
The World Martial Arts Games/Geneva Open is a “multi-styles” and “sports for all” festival.
Everyone I have met has immediately been convinced that this competition will be a big success, starting with the sponsors! We have already obtained important financial support.
Another determinant factor is the creation, for the first time in the history of our sport, the Police, Fire & Military World Martial Arts Games. This competition for active policemen, firemen and soldier, is meeting great success. We are really pleased to provide Handisports divisions too. We receive applications from everywhere around the World. I am extremely satisfied.”
The facts give reason to the tireless Swiss promoter. Here, we have summarized the recent achievements for the promotion of these games. There is no doubt that the World Martial Arts Games will most probably become a key player in the world of the combat sports and martial arts.
